Joshua Scores Beyond the Football Field

Joshua Scores Beyond the Football Field

Joshua Minor plays football for the 75216 Bulldogs. He’s participant in the Community Youth Development program for four years. He arrived with low grades, little self-esteem, and slight hope for a successful future. His grandmother resisted Joshua playing at first, because she needed him to help out around the house. One of the volunteer coaches met with the grandmother, convincing her it was a good idea to get Joshua involved. The coach saw Joshua’s football potential and knew that the Getting Fit for Life program would also provide him with the needed life skills to stay out of trouble.

As a result of his involvement with the CYD program and its caring adult mentors, Joshua’s grades have steadily improved, and he knows adults who care about him and how he conducts himself in life. In addition, Joshua excels on the football field. He scored two or more touchdowns in every game this past season. With hard work on the field, and motivation from his grandmother and coaches to do well in life, Joshua has overcome many negative factors, and strives to continue to succeed.
