Community Transportation Network Revs Up Efforts, Keeps People Moving

The Community Transportation Network released it annual work plan on September 8. The stakes are high. A 2011 Transportation for America study called Aging in Place, Stuck without Options projects that 295,445 seniors age 65 to 79 will live with poor transit access in the Dallas Metro Area by 2015 (66 percent of seniors age 65-79).

The solution is transportation coordination: leveraging partnerships and resources to keep people with disabilities across the lifespan safe, healthy, independent and connected. The Community Transportation Network will build several transportation coordination pieces over the next year. The network is a multi-sector collaboration of over 75 organizations led by the Community Council and Dallas Area Agency on Aging.

Visit the Community Transportation Network page to read the work plan, find transportation and join the network.
