50th Anniversary of Medicare, Medicaid, and the Older Americans Act

50th Anniversary of Medicare, Medicaid, and the Older Americans Act

2015 marks the 50th anniversary of three of the nation’s most important programs for seniors – Medicare, Medicaid, and the Older Americans Act.  It is also the year for the White House Conference on Aging when advocates and policy makers will be discussing the future of aging services.  The National Council on Aging (NCOA) urges Congress to support seniors by:

-         Protecting and assisting low income Medicare beneficiaries to help pay for doctor coverage

-         Renew the Older Americans Act

-         Restore investments in aging services such as nutrition, energy assistance, and affordable housing

-         Protect and strengthen long term care under Medicaid

-         Improve access to elder falls prevention and chronic disease self-management programs

The National Council on Aging is partnering with non-profit organizations, government, and business to improve the health and economic security of 10 million older adults by 2020.  Lend your support and learn more by visiting www.ncoa.org.
