2-1-1 Proudly Assists Our Veterans

Veterans get help by dialing 2-1-1.  The Community Council of Greater Dallas has supported returning service members since 1945 with a variety of programs. Today,

2-1-1 Texas- Dallas connects veterans and their families to veteran specific benefits and local community services. The 2-1-1 services are free, anonymous and available 24/7.

Veterans share the same basic needs as their non-veteran neighbors: food, housing, healthcare and employment. They also have unique needs related to their military service. These may include access to veterans’ benefits, reintegration into civilian society, finding employment after discharge, reuniting with family after long separations and unexpected physical and mental health care needs due to trauma and injury.

2-1-1 maintains a database of veteran specific benefit and community programs to help meet all of a returning service member’s needs, such as education on military service benefits to feeding the family and paying the rent or counseling and healthcare.  A certified specialist guides the veteran or family member through the maze of social services and connects them to local agencies by assessing the factors surrounding the situation, prioritizing immediate needs and connecting the caller to a local service agency or appropriate veterans’ commission. To find help in your community, just dial 2-1-1.
