Community Council - Seven Decades
“Although numerous changes have taken place over this span of time, many of the
human problems faced by the area’s 400,000 people in 1940 still confront the
1,400,000 in 1972. And while some problems have been diminished or virtually
eliminated, new ones have arisen.”
Today, almost four million residents in Dallas County proper and its surrounding
counties face ongoing and varied challenges. These include changing
demographics, shrinking public resources and increasing needs from seniors to
youth populations. The greater community can only progress
by ensuring that social services agencies involved in pressing issues
join together to make the most of monetary resources and human capital.
The Community Council provides leadership to:
· Determine priority human service issues and solutions
· Convene and mobilize public and private partners to work in collaboration and significantly improve service delivery
· Increase social awareness through communications and advocacy
·
Deliver and contract for specific direct services, including Information and
Referral through 2-1-1, Senior Services, Health and Youth Initiatives
