Older Americans Act Goals
The DAAA is
staffed by a Director, Contract Managers (2), Data
Management Coordinator, Data Support Specialist,
Advocacy Center for the Elderly (ACE) Project
Manager, Care Coordinators (2), Benefits Counseling
Coordinator, Benefits Specialist, Benefits
Counselors (6), Caregiver Support Specialists (2),
Aging Services Secretary, and Office Assistant.
The DAAA annually
prepares an area plan in keeping with the following
goals of the Older Americans Act:

Secure
maximum independence and dignity in a home
environment for those capable of self-care with
appropriate supportive services.

Remove
individual and social barriers to economic and
personal independence.

Remove
isolation and loneliness by encouraging
involvement in organized activities and
intergenerational programs.

Increase
quality of life and health through improved
nutrition.
-
Provide a
continuum of care for the frail and vulnerable
elderly to prevent unnecessary or premature
institutionalization.
The DAAA operates
with the advice and assistance of an Advisory
Council made up of consumers of services (persons
60+), service providers, health care providers,
elected officials, and the general public. The
Chair of the Advisory Council is a member of the
Community Council of Greater Dallas Board of
Directors. A total of 25 members serve two-year
staggered terms.
