2-1-1 Resource Database Specialist


Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Director, Resources & Technology and Resource Training Coordinator.

Maintains a database of agencies and programs which provide human services in the 8 county service areas. Maintenance of the 2-1-1 database requires an extensive and thorough knowledge of the standards for
professional Information and Referral as they relate to the development and implementation of a resource database.

Level of Performance:
Requires the ability to operate at a professionally independent level, as well as direct the activities of other staff who participate in updating resource information.

Examples of Work Performed:

Responsible for preparing entries for the computerized resource information
system utilizing the Info Line Taxonomy to classify human services provided by agencies and organizations. Gathers and reviews all pertinent information about each agency to be included in the database.

Maintains up to date information on services available in CCGD service area and updates each resource file at least once a year. Acts as liaison with county representatives.

Scans newspapers, magazines and agency newsletters, daily, for new resources and updated information on existing
resources.

Facilitates the flow of resource information to the 2-1-1 Specialists.
Provides back up for the 2-1-1 Specialists during the lunch hours, vacation/sick days, and during peak hours of the
day.

Maintains records on intake activity, writes summary reports and completes statistical data as requested. Utilizes a computerized resource information system.

Adheres to policies and procedures of the Community Council Information and Referral Orientation Manual.

Represents 2-1-1 and provides information at community meetings and events.

Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
An Associate degree from a junior college in an appropriate field and three
years experience in a social service agency. Ability to speak clearly and distinctly. Good vision and good hearing acuity (with glasses and hearing aids if necessary).

Skill in use of computer screens and manual dexterity and skill in use of keyboard. Personal transportation for attending offsite meetings; ability to
transport and handle materials for use at off-site meetings.

Knowledge of the AIRS Info Line Taxonomy and Standards of Information and Referral.


Desirable Requirements:
A Bachelors degree in the social service field.

Desirable Personal Qualities:
Tact, judgment and the ability to get along with a variety of people.
Tolerance of a variety of viewpoints. The ability to write and speak effectively.
