2-1-1 Texas InfoLine -- North Central Texas Dallas Region 2-1-1 Texas InfoLine is a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization formerly known the Community Helpline. It is one the largest information and referral services in the nation, helping over 180,000 individuals and families in the North Central Texas region each year.
Since 2001, 2-1-1 Texas InfoLine has provided free, confidential services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Services are provided in English, Spanish and over 140 other languages via a tele-interpreting service. Services are also provided for the hearing impaired. The Council's Information and Referral line has existed for over 38 years providing the same quality service.
2-1-1 Texas InfoLine is accredited by the national Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS).
How 2-1-1 Texas InfoLine Helps
Professional call specialists help callers with such complex issues as substance abuse, domestic violence programs, suicide prevention, financial problems, and much more. By dialing 2-1-1, a caller is connected with an 2-1-1 call specialist who helps the caller assess their situation and find the community services in their area that can assist them. It's important for people to remember that 911 remains the number to call for police, fire or EMS emergency response and 411 remains the number to call for telephone directory information.
Serving Agencies, Government and Businesses
2-1-1 has developed the areas most comprehensive database of human service resources. It is continuously updated, providing the foundation for mailing lists and a searchable database on our web site www.ccgd.org. The collection of data on demographics and caller problems provides another valuable resource by presenting an overview of the problems facing North Central Texas residents. This data is used for many types of human-needs assessments in the eight-county area.
